Looking for a function that meets requirements

Can any smart mathematician suggest me a slowly decreasingly growing function which starts with y=x when x is 1? (I need it to represent a growth)

I was using a logarithm, but I don't want the y to get past the x for low numbers...

Assume I suck with mathematics, I'm an humble programmer.
