I'm studying biostatistics in graduate school and I remember running into the Harmonic Mean when learning about Jensen's inequality. Harmonic mean never came up again and after looking through my textbook, it seems that Harmonic mean was only utilized to show an example of Jensen's inequality at work (harmonic mean ≤ geometric mean ≤ arithmetic mean).
It got me thinking that there MUST be some other use or property of the harmonic mean that is significant in other fields of mathematics. What other topics use harmonic mean?
