Where would I start to try to understand the mathematics underlying rules such as the following:

in order to determine whether a number is divisible by 7, double the last digit and subtract it from the number created by adding the other digits as if they were ones units, then divide the resulting number by 7. If there is no remainder, then the original number is also divisible by 7"
